Editor's Note
Dear readers,
We are delighted to announce the publication of KITPA Journal Vol. 3 No. 1. Centered on two pillars — big-data analytics and digital humanities — this issue examines how information technology in the age of artificial intelligence is creating new value across academia and society.
First, in the field of big-data analytics we introduce studies that apply the latest AI techniques — convolutional neural networks, deep learning, large language models (LLMs), and dynamic knowledge graphs — to a wide range of application areas such as underground-structure object detection, real-time traffic-signal control, deriving candidates for multi-epitope mRNA vaccines, smart-home energy efficiency, personalized game content generation, mental-health status determination, sports-record prediction, and defense against distributed denial-of-service attacks. These efforts go beyond academic achievement and offer practical insights that can directly contribute to industry and to solving social problems.
Second, in digital humanities we present studies in which humanistic reflection meets digital technology to open new horizons across language, culture, education, and ethics — including loanword detection and refined-word recommendation, a summarization model for the Seungjeongwon Ilgi (Diary of the Royal Secretariat), dialect identification in Korean LLMs, analysis of online hate discourse, an English chunking-reading learning tool, the value-dependence of AI evaluation metrics, handwriting-based stress relief for adolescents, and multi-social-media identity and psychological self-management. This will be a venue for in-depth reflection on how technology mirrors and transforms human life and culture.
By weaving together rapidly advancing AI and big-data applied research with humanistic questions of the digital age, this issue seeks to present the possibilities of convergent research that crosses academic boundaries. We hope this will be an occasion in which the creativity of researchers, the field experience of practitioners, and the fresh perspectives of the next generation come together to jointly explore a human-centered direction for the future of information technology.
Your unwavering interest and support make this journal all the more meaningful. We ask for your active participation on the journey of sharing knowledge and broadening horizons together.
Thank you.
